self improvement
A modern movement…
L. Ron Hubbard started out with a book called Dianetics. That was the first book I read from the Scientology perspective. I came across Scientology while interviewing for a company in Burbank CA, many, many years ago.
Scientology offers a perspective of self improvement based on Hubbard’s views. A lot of this involves communication. Communication can be improved by an understanding of Affinity, Reality and Communication (the ARC triangle). Another aspect of communication is improved by their view of the tone scale.
There are spiritual practices involved as well, including Dianetics and Scientology auditing. These practices such as “basic basic” and reliving previous moments are able to blow off negative moments that keep affecting a person’s life.
A view of Scientology is that our reactive mind has set up incorrect responses to current problems. For example, a person gets into a car accident on a rainy night and ends up with a broken back. Later on when it rains, or it rains at night, he develops pain in his back. This is the psychosomatic response and Scientology feels this is happening most of the time, causing us sources of pain.
My only issues with the faith was the amount of monetary investment, which I couldn’t keep up with such demands.
